JOO CHIAT STREET SOCIAL
Rediscovering the heart of Joo Chiat as cars make way for Joo Chiat Street Social!
In Collaboration with: Katong-JooChiat Business Association, Land Transport Authority (LTA), Enterprise Singapore & The Federation of Merchants’ Associations Singapore
Closing down East Coast’s busiest cross junction for Joo Chiat Car-Free Day provided a rare moment for the neighborhood to slow down. It was a gentle reminder for everyone to step out of their vehicles and savor Katong-JooChiat on foot rather than just driving by.
Held during Joo Chiat Car-Free Day led by the Land Transport Authority & organised by the Katong-JooChiat Business Association, Joo Chiat Street Social demonstrated the power of merchant-led precinct activations. As the supporting placemaking partner, Invade brought in the concept of our IP, Weekend Brew Club, providing the experiential framework for local cafes and shopkeepers to extend onto the street with interactive booths, workshops, and in-store pass redemptions. Supported by Enterprise Singapore and FMAS, the initiative brought 80+ neighborhood businesses together and drew over 5,000 visitors into local storefronts, proving how collaborative concepts can enhance community-driven street closures.
